Teaming up with Local Food Banks to collect non-perishable food items on April 24th!

ctg

Did you know that 45,000 families receive over 1,500,000 meals monthly! This statistic is just from the North Texas Food Bank alone, and there are many more food pantries that serve families, all across North Dallas. Together, the Church in North Dallas is locking arms to address this need in our city. It is our prayer that The Church will rise as one to stamp out hunger in our city on Saturday, April 24th!

It is no secret that there are people, families, and children who go hungry everyday in our community all around us.  We can try to ignore it or appease our consciences by blaming the hungry for the state that they are in. Forty percent of households served through North Texas Food Bank alone, have at least one employed adult. They are known as the “working hungry”. Research shows that hungry children have poorer mental and over all health, miss more days of school, suffer greater rates of behavioral disorders and are less prepared to learn in school. These children are not responsible for the hunger they suffer.

  • The current need is over 1 billion pounds of food, equivalent to 800 million meals in order to close the gap on what people in poverty need and what they currently access.
  • Currently there is a 29 million meal gap for people living at or below the federal poverty level.
  • As a Church, it is time to passionately pursue a hunger-free community.
There are over 1400 churches in the North Dallas Metroplex! What if we would band together to stamp out hunger in our area? The collaboration between the North Texas Food Bank and God of the City is that a unified, revived Church would be unleashed to address injustice and poverty. To help reach this goal God of the City is teaming up with NTFB and local food pantries to raise food and increase awareness to aid in the fight against hunger here in our community.

There are over 1400  churches in the North Dallas Metroplex. That is a lot of people and a lot of churches who could band together to stamp out hunger in our area! Our intersection with National Texas Food Bank and God of the City is to for the unification of our churches and the commissioning of Believers to move out. It is time that we look seriously at the things that break the heart of God in our city. To help reach this goal God of the City is teaming up with NTFB to raise funds, food, & awareness to aid in the fight against hunger here in our community.

At the God of the City gathering on Saturday, April 245th at 6:00pm at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, we will be collecting canned goods at every entrance of the auditorium.

SOF
The Nicene Creed is the most widely accepted and used brief statements of the Christian Faith. It is Common Ground to East Orthodox, Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, Calvinists, and many other Christian groups.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son].
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. AMEN.
